Leticia Rivera is a Test Engineer from Ciudad Obregon, Sonora. She’s been nicknamed Lemma from her username since forever.
A Girl Fell in Love with Computers
Lemma discovered she was born to work with software when she was only nine years old. She used to doodle using MS Paint in grammar school and never let go. She fell in love with computers forever after. At age eleven she put together her first computer using spare parts her dad brought from work.
She specialized in Informatics in a technical high school. Oddly her classroom had 30 women and only 6 men.
Later, she got her degree in Information System Management from ITSON. She wrote a thesis on the “soft skills” needed to do successful software development in teams.
Her first job was as a Test Engineer, and after a few years and several companies, she ended up leading a project at Rust Consulting as a Database Analyst.
Improving things is Lemma’s main goal when testing. As she puts it, “I like to be sure that my participation in a project makes for a better product for our users. Achieving this goal is very satisfying.”
Leticia’s favorite books are novels like, To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, and Hopeless by Colleen Hoover.
She’s also into poetry.
She also enjoys alternative bands like Radiohead, Nirvana, and Incubus. Her favorite singers are Gustavo Cerati and Enrique Bunbury. On the softer side, she likes Alejandro Sanz and Shakira’s ballads.
Lemma at Work
Lemma has come to value the Nearsoftian culture as something special. In her own words, “I am totally sure things work better with this kind of culture in place. Every day I live with a team that trusts me and I feel like they hear me. I am now part of a beautiful family.”
