I wanted to join Nearsoft badly. I had heard about it being a great place to work and other wonderful things, but I wasn’t sure how real it all was. I had joined other software companies that were kind of rigid and old school, and I simply did not fit.
Once I joined Nearsoft, I learned that it was a whole lot more than just hype, it was, indeed, a great place to boost my engineering career. Better yet, I could be myself, at my best and have fun while at it!

Your small founding team has worked hard and has managed to get your idea off the ground. You are starting to get some serious traction and need to do more, faster.

I learned about Nearsoft two years before I actually joined the company. Back then, I was working for a consulting company. It wasn’t bad, but Nearsoft sounded more alluring because of its culture. People collaborate with one another instead being told what to do and rather than pressuring people, they are trusted to perform their best.
The problem was its location, far away from my family.

Building a great development team is not very complex, but it is darn difficult to do. At Nearsoft, recruiting is one of our core competencies. We are constantly looking for and interviewing talented developers. Our clients have the final word, but we do all the heavy lifting.

Recruiting is a pain, and most companies don’t do it very well. Growing your development team doesn’t have to be a frustrating experience, but it may require making changes and finding new sources for candidates.
The question is: what works?

For high tech companies, business growth is a function of how fast they can grow their development team. If all goes well, the product launches, it’s well accepted, and the user base grows like crazy. Excitement, passion, and late nights supports this expansion, for a while. But then, the team needs to grow. And that’s when things get dicey.
